Al Riyadh defeated visitors Al Taawon 2-1 in round 11 of the Saudi Pro League, after taking the lead in the first half and sealing the match with a second goal in the second half despite Al Taawon narrowing the gap.

Al Riyadh beat Al Taawon 2-1 in round 11 of the Saudi League

[Al Riyadh](https://riyadaty.com/en/team/al-riyadh-30) achieved an important win over their guests [Al Taawon](https://riyadaty.com/en/team/al-taawon-35) 2-1 in the match that brought the two sides together in round 11 of the [Saudi Pro League](https://riyadaty.com/en/competition/saudi-pro-league-3) for the 2026/27 season, which was held on 24 October and kicked off at 21:00 Saudi time and was broadcast by Thmanyah channel.

[Teddy Léo Junior Okou](https://riyadaty.com/en/player/teddy-l%C3%A9o-junior-okou-827) opened the scoring for Al Riyadh in the 39th minute, sending the two teams into the break with this lead. In the second half, [Bernard Mensah](https://riyadaty.com/en/player/bernard-mensah-821) extended Al Riyadh's lead with a second goal in the 76th minute, before [Nedim Bajrami](https://riyadaty.com/en/player/nedim-bajrami-981) narrowed the gap for Al Taawon in the 78th minute, with Al Riyadh maintaining their lead until the final whistle.

Bernard Mensah was chosen as man of the match after scoring a goal and providing an assist during his appearance that lasted the full 90 minutes, with a rating of 9.

Statistically, Al Taawon dominated possession with 62 percent against 38 percent for Al Riyadh, completing 558 passes compared to 339 for Al Riyadh, and winning 10 corner kicks compared to just two for Al Riyadh. In contrast, Al Riyadh were more effective in attack, recording 13 shots, 6 of which were on target, compared to 10 shots for Al Taawon, 4 of which were on target, and leading in expected goals with a difference of 1.46 against 0.42 in favour of Al Taawon. The match saw no red cards, while Al Taawon received two yellow cards compared to none for Al Riyadh.

With this result, Al Riyadh raised their tally to 9 points in 13th place after playing 9 matches, winning two, drawing 3 and losing 4, scoring 9 goals and conceding 18 goals.

In contrast, Al Taawon's tally remained frozen at 4 points in 17th place after playing 10 matches without achieving any win, drawing 4 matches and losing 6, scoring 4 goals and conceding 17 goals.
