Freiburg to host Wolfsburg in DFB-Pokal round of 32

SC Freiburg will host VfL Wolfsburg in a match to be played on 28 October 2026 at 20:00 Saudi Arabia time (the same as Damascus time), as part of the round of 32 of the DFB-Pokal for the 2026 season.

Freiburg go into this encounter following a mixed run of results in their last five matches, having lost 1-3 at home to Bayern Munich on 25 October, and also lost 0-3 away to Monaco on 22 October, in addition to suffering defeat against Bayer Leverkusen 1-2 on 18 October. On the other hand, Freiburg had earlier secured two consecutive wins, beating Jablonec 3-2 on 15 October, and defeating Schalke 2-1 on 11 October.

As for Wolfsburg, they played their last five matches with varying results, drawing 3-3 away to Alemannia Aachen on 24 August, and losing 1-2 away to Paderborn on 25 May, after having drawn 0-0 at home against them on 21 May. Wolfsburg also recorded a 3-1 win away against St Pauli on 16 May, while they lost 0-1 at home to Bayern Munich on 9 May.

Previous meetings between the two sides point to a close history, with their last encounter on 3 May 2026 ending in a 1-1 draw at Freiburg's ground. Before that, Freiburg beat Wolfsburg 4-3 on 20 December 2025 when the team was playing away, and Freiburg also won 1-0 on 26 April 2025 during a visit to Wolfsburg.
