St. Louis City go into the match on the back of a good run of results, having won their last match against New York Red Bulls 3-0, before that beating Toronto FC 3-1, and Minnesota United 4-2, while drawing 2-2 with Portland Timbers, and beating Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1.

Los Angeles Galaxy, for their part, won their last match against Colorado Rapids 3-2, and before that beat Minnesota United 3-2, drew 1-1 with Seattle Sounders, lost 0-3 against Vancouver Whitecaps, and beat New England Revolution 2-1.
