Villarreal to host Napoli in Champions League matchday two

Villarreal will host Italy's Napoli on 13 October 2026 at 10:00 pm Damascus time, in a clash between the two sides in matchday two of the league phase of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League. The match will be broadcast on beIN SPORTS.

Villarreal sit 21st in the standings with 1 point after losing their opening match 0-1 against Real Madrid, while Napoli are 27th with no points after also losing 0-1, with neither side having secured a win or a point so far in the competition.

In the domestic league, Villarreal's results have been mixed, losing 2-3 to Borussia Dortmund and 1-2 to Real Betis, while beating Malaga 3-1 and Levante 3-1, before falling again to Real Madrid 0-1.

Napoli, meanwhile, lost 2-3 to Inter Milan and 0-1 to Arsenal, and drew 1-1 with Fiorentina, while winning 1-0 against Bologna and 3-0 against Frosinone in their most recent matches.

The two sides have met five times before, most recently on 17 December 2022 when Villarreal beat Napoli 3-2 away from home. Villarreal had previously beaten Napoli 1-0 on 18 February 2016, while Napoli won 2-0 in two of the five meetings, with the two sides drawing once 1-1.

Villarreal will be without Tajon Buchanan due to injury. Napoli, meanwhile, are missing a larger number of players, most notably A. Buongiorno, Alisson Santos, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Costantino Favasuli, Mathias Olivera Miramontes and Antonio Vergara, all due to injury.
